Introduction

 Using liquid ammonia as the feed material, this plant gasifies and decomposes the liquid ammonia. With 1KG liquid ammonia,it could put out about 2.64 Nm³ mixed gas consisting of 75% hydrogen and 25% nitrogen. The mixed gas contains small quantity impurities(moisture ab.2g/ m³, ammonia remains ab.1000ppm). After being purified through 5A molecular sieve (American UOP) adsorption, the dew point of the product hydrogen could be decreased to -60C°and the ammonia remains inside could be reduced to below 3ppm.

Introduction of the main parts:

1). Internal Decomposition Tank: The internal tank of the decomposition vessel is made of heat-resistance stainless steel #2520  and welded by TIG. This material is characterized with high temperature resistance, strong corrosion resistance and long life.

2). Catalyst: The high temperature sintered nickle catalyst is used to obtain good decomposition effect of liquid ammonia.This catalyst is characterized with high decomposition activation and pulverization-resistance and it is also not easy to get aged.

3). Heating Elements: The internal heating system adopts nickle-chrome alloy heater with high heating efficiency. The insulation system adopts aluminium silicate fiber insulation material from Japan which could reduce the heat loss for the decomposition vessel and save the power.

4). Control System: The plant uses integrated automatic temperature adjusting device which saves the power and reduces the operation cost.

Work principle:

1).Under the normal temperature, with the function of the catalyst,the gaseous ammonia is decomposed into hydrogen(75%) and nitrogen(25%) and adsorbs 21.9Kcal heat.

2).As the whole process is the expansion reaction by adsorbing heat, increasing the temperature helps to decompose the ammonia. Meanwhile, it's also a reaction of the volume expansion, decreasing the pressure also helps decomposing.

Note:1). In accordance with the user's needs, we could design and make various specification non-standard equipment. The pressure of the product gas could be set up to 0.7Mpa.

2). The plant requires liquid ammonia of the first level quality and above as its feed material.

The following is the PURIFICATION SYSTEM for the Hydrogen Generator by Ammonia Decomposition. It's usually attached to the above hydrogen generator to improve the purity of product hydrogen as per the user's needs.

Work principle:

1).Through the strong adsorption of the 5A molecular sieve, this purification unit does the deep adsorption of the moisture and ammonia remains.

2).After decomposing, the mixed nitrogen and hydrogen gas enters into the driers to be removed of the moisture remains and other impurities. This purification unit is equipmed with two adsorption columns: one adsorbs the dry decomposed gas while the other one, being heated to 300~500C°,desorbs the moisture and ammonia remains for regeneration purpose.

3).The adsorption column adopts double cylinders structure to avoid the sintering by overheating, which helps to prolong the life of the molecular sieve.

High quality valves for this unit are equiped with reliable sealing to avoid inner leaking, which guarantees the purity of the product gas.
